Short post tonight, since I'm heading to bed shortly after much insomnia last night. Did lots of things today -- cancelled toilet #1, ordered #2; put together the bathroom mirror (a surprising amount of work, like everything from IKEA); made further progress on the conversion of Sasha video tapes (found one more that needed to be done, converted a bunch); took care of some back email and professor chores; isolated an unused outlet in the basement that can be re-routed into the bathroom; etc. Then ran around town picking up things and looking at tile, before Lilya told me that it's Ann Sacks or nothing; that actually helps narrow things down, however, and hopefully tomorrow or the next day and order can go in. But it was all kind of flopping around until about 5:00 when I went back at the bathroom wall. Another day or two and it should be done. The edge bits are very slow going, both because I don't want to punch a hole in the other walls, but mostly because it's easy punching through a spot where there's nothing; it's hard when there's a beam right behind it (that's also where the nails are, of course, and they get in the way, too). Anyway, you can see that it's pretty well trimmed on the right hand side, and that most of the bottom is cleared out, as well.

I also needed to make some alterations to the new kitchen cabinet so that it could sit back against the wall -- there was some hardware getting in the way, but I think that's taken care of now. Here it is in its future home.

I hadn’t realized there was more kitchen work underway, too! I’ll be coming home with IKEA bookshelves this weekend, in case you don’t have enough frustrating assembly at your own house.
