I expect I'll need two, at least. I was saying to a friend last night that all this really drives home the difference between linear, square and cubic measurements. This tiny, tiny bathroom, just 3' x 3' 9", and I'm *only* tiling four feet up from the floor -- that's forty-five square feet of tiling! They shipped me about 50 square feet of wall tiles, but it fits in an astonishingly small rectangular solid -- it's about 1' x 1' x 1.5' (maybe a little less than 2'). That's really small, like, too small to be a small side table next to your couch. And it weighs about 200 lbs.
Anyway, in my small slot of available time, I started on the back wall. I have a plan. Today I did 4 square feet, leaving me just 41 to go! That was about an hour, maybe 90 minutes, with absolutely no tile cutting involved at all. That will *not* be true tomorrow. Here are the results:
Notice the screwdriver as a shim -- extra classy!
The Kanso tiles, the white ones, are amazing looking, just gorgeous glossy white mirrors. Again, these photo are terrible, totally failing to convey the actual colors. Tomorrow I'll do more tiles, including some cuts -- my dream would be to finish that whole back wall tomorrow, but I do also have to bake a cake and celebrate our Independence Day with friends. Despite what you may have heard, progressive Democrats love this country too, and also celebrate July 4th with cake, BBQ and fireworks. Yay US!
My main concern at this point is not irregular tiles, but psychotic cat. I came downstairs this morning to find this grisly tableau:
He's collected all his toys and… stuffed prey animals? and... arranged? them around his food dish. Is he feeding them? Preparing them as food? Should it rub the lotion into its skin? Only you can say. This wouldn't have troubled me quite so much except that he then perched on the couch -- facing away from the room, from me, from the big window -- and proceeded to stare intently at the back of the couch, unmoving, for over half an hour.
He's really staring at the back of the couch. I checked.
